Welcome to UBC!

Thinking of Visiting? You're Welcome!
We’re so glad you’re considering visiting us! Whether you’ve been to church before, are stepping into one for the first time, or are simply curious, you’ll receive a warm and friendly welcome at Upminster Baptist Church. Here’s what you can expect.
Sunday Services at 10:30am
Our Sunday service begins at 10:30am and is a relaxed and welcoming time of worship, teaching, and community. You’re welcome to arrive a little earlier to meet people or enjoy a chat, or head straight in and find a seat.
At the door, one of our greeters will warmly welcome you and hand you a Bible. If you’re unsure where to sit, just let them know—they’ll be happy to help.
Everyone Welcome
At Upminster Baptist Church, everyone is welcome, no matter your background, life story, or current beliefs. There’s no dress code—come dressed in what makes you feel comfortable, whether that’s casual or more formal.
We especially love welcoming families, so if you’re bringing children, please don’t worry about noise or interruptions. We’re a church that embraces the energy and joy children bring, and we want you to feel at home with us.
What to Expect
Our congregation is a diverse community, made up of people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. Together, we form a warm and welcoming family.
Our services feature modern, uplifting music led by our live band, designed to help us focus on worship and connect with God. Services typically finish around 11:45am, but the morning doesn’t have to end there. Afterward, we’d love for you to stay for tea and coffee. It’s a great opportunity to relax, chat, and get to know others in a friendly and informal setting.
For Families
Families are an integral part of our church, and we’ve created spaces for every age group to feel comfortable and engaged. Learn more: Youth & Families.
Young people join us for the first 20 minutes of the service, where we enjoy lively worship together. This often includes a fun and engaging children’s talk that even adults enjoy! After this time, children are welcome to head to their age-appropriate groups, but they’re equally welcome to stay in the main service with their parents if that’s what works best for your family.
We provide a creche for children aged 0–4, where little ones can enjoy a safe, welcoming space. For children aged 4–11, our Sunday School offers fun, engaging, and meaningful activities to help them grow in faith. Teenagers aged 11–18 can join the Youth Group, a space where they can connect, build friendships, and explore their faith in a way that’s relevant to their age and experiences.
For People Coming from Other Churches
If you’re visiting from another church or are in search of a new church home, we’d love to welcome you. Our focus is on loving God, growing in faith, and serving our community, and we’d be delighted to have you join us in this journey.
For People New to Church
If you’re new to church, you’re in good company—many of our regular attendees had never been to church before they came to Upminster Baptist Church.
There’s no pressure here. You’re welcome to take things at your own pace and see what it’s all about. We’re committed to providing a safe and supportive space where you can ask questions, learn, and explore faith.
What We Believe
At the heart of our faith is the belief that Jesus is God. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died to take the punishment for our sins, and rose again to offer new life to anyone who trusts in Him.
We believe that all of us have fallen short of God’s perfect standard, but through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are offered forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection show us God’s incredible love and grace, and through faith in Him, we can have a restored relationship with God.
This new life is not just about eternity; it begins now, bringing hope, purpose, and transformation to our daily lives. As a Baptist church, we’re part of a tradition that emphasizes believer’s baptism and a personal relationship with God. However, at our core, we are simply Christians, focused on following Jesus and living out His teachings. Learn more: Our Beliefs.
Not Just Sundays
Church life at Upminster Baptist Church goes far beyond Sunday mornings. Throughout the week, there’s a wide range of activities and groups for people of all ages and interests.
Whether you’re looking to connect with others, grow in your faith, or simply take a break and enjoy some company, there’s something for everyone. We host several community groups designed to bring people together and make a difference in our local area, including the Men’s Shed, Cafe With a Purpose, Lunch Club, and Wellbeing Club. Find out more: Community Groups.
For those seeking spiritual growth and deeper reflection, we hold Prayer Meetings, where we come together to pray for each other, our community, and the world. Our Growth Groups meet regularly to explore the Bible in more depth, offering a chance to build friendships, ask questions, and grow in faith in a supportive, small-group setting.
