Secondary School Admissions Policy

Dear Parents,

We understand that preparing for secondary school can be both exciting and overwhelming, and we’re here to support you during this important time.

At Upminster Baptist Church (UBC), we are committed to helping your child meet the religious criteria required by some secondary schools. We’d be honoured to be your family’s place of worship and believe that the hope and guidance of Jesus can be especially impactful for young people as they prepare for this significant transition—and for life as a whole.

Our Criteria for Letters of Support

To write a letter confirming your child’s eligibility under the religious criterion, we need to ensure that they meet UBC’s requirements. These include:

  • Attending at least ten in-person church services per year for each of the two years prior to the application.
  • Please note that online attendance does not count toward this requirement.

We encourage your family to become regular members of our church community, where you’ll find the support and hope that come from being part of a loving and welcoming church.

The Process

  1. Register Your Child
Complete the Secondary School Religious Admissions Policy Form to sign your child up for the program.
  2. Receive a Record Card
Once registered, you will receive a record card in the post.
  3. Record Attendance
At the end of each church service you attend, present the record card to a minister for stamping and dating.
  4. Submit Your Request
Submit your request for the letter of support by 1st October in the year you apply to the school.

If your child is a member of 1st Corbets Tey Scouts, their attendance at church parade services will be recorded by scout leaders, so you won’t need to use the record card for those services.

Support for Families

Throughout the year, UBC will host a variety of events designed to support parents and families during this process. By signing up for the program, you’ll receive updates about these gatherings. We encourage you to join us and take part in these valuable opportunities to connect and grow.

Important Reminder

It is the responsibility of each parent to ensure that their child meets the religious criteria for the school they are applying to.

We are excited to welcome your family into our church community and look forward to walking alongside you during this important stage of your child’s journey.
